Let’s face it!

Facial recognition software is on the rise and is now being used in the most unusual places. A  newspaper reported recently that visitors to the Temple of Heaven in Beijing (a UNESCO World Heritage site) have their toilet paper rationed by a machine which scans their face before dispensing them a 2ft strip.  The management say that, as a result of the scheme, they have saved 20% and can supply a better quality paper than before.  Management were unable to comment on what might happen if the software malfunctioned, leaving customers without any paper at all.  For more information see the  full (and hilarious) article on cnet.com
